Love these kitten sayings! =)

Working with Javascript

So taking a week off for Spring Break totally killed my momentum on learning all this fun new .html coding! When I came back from vacation, it was like starting all over! Totally not cool!!!

So anyways, this whole Javascript thing is very cool, I know technology is constantly changing around me I just cannot keep up with it! It is so cool to me that a few "html codes" can generate a webpage that can tell you what time it is and know your name!

Hoping To Go On A Cruise This Year!

So I had a little bit of free time today and of course I immediately start searching for vacation ideas! LOL! I have been dying to go on a cruise, and my parents are looking for a family vacation idea for this year. It would be me and my boyfriend, my parents, and my 14 year old brother that go away, so I was thinking a cruise would be perfect!

I watched on one of those TV shows (can't remember the name), the making of the Royal Carribean: Oasis of the Sea ship, and said that I wanted to go on a cruise on that ship no matter what! It is unreal the features that ship has! It has 24-25 restaurants, zip lining, a rock wall, ice skating, a carousel, etc. HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?! I found a 7 day cruise that leaves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on my birthday, December 15th that is not to expensive. Of course now I have my heart set on that and am not going to be very flexible with doing anything else! Yikes!!

Disney On Ice : Dare to Dream

So last Monday, since it was school vacation, I decided to take the girls I nanny to Disney On Ice. I have a secret obsession to Disney! I have been to Disney 24 times and would totally live there if it were an option! So I took the girls to the show and it was fabulous! The show covered the movies Princess and the Frog with Princess Tianna and Prince Nevine, Cinderella, and Tangled with Rapunzel. I am in love with the Tangled movie I think it is adorable. I am not very familiar with The Princess and the Frog, but it was still cool to see them translate all the movies to an Ice Show! Disney never ceases to amaze me!

Yayy Finally Snow!!!

So after a nice warm winter so far with temperatures between 50 and 60 degrees, we finally get some snow! The only reason I am not mad about the snow, is because thankfully we have a plow on one of our trucks, so Lyndsay does not have to shovel the driveway anymore!!! WooHoo! Although my crossover is not 4 wheel drive and is not very good in the snow, I try to tell myself there are worse cars to have in New England.

TurboTax is the Bomb!

I am going to tell you about TurboTax since it is an extremely easy to use and important tool. I have been using TurboTax since 2009 to file my taxes each year. Doing your taxes can be one of the most stressful things to do every year, so anything that makes a stressful time more relaxing is a plus to me.

When you create a profile on TurboTax it saves your information for future years tax returns. So this year when I logged in, it had all my employer information and all of my personal information already to go, which saves time. If anything has changed, you can easily hit edit and change your information and it will just remember it for next year.

TurboTax has easy step by step tools that literally takes me no more than 20 minutes to file my taxes very year. I usually choose direct deposit, so from the time I sit down and start my taxes, my refund is usually deposited into my account 8-10 days later at the most.

If you all have not tried TurboTax yet, I HIGHLY recommend it!!

Which book to read next....Hmmm

So I am a book freak and read all the time. I just finished reading The Help, which took me literally 4 days to read all 509 pages! I could not put it down! I told myself I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie and I hope to god the movie is just as good as the book was. I have so many books I need to read but I cannot decide which to start first!! I have The Hunger Games trilogy, but once I start that set I obviously cannot stop until I finish all three, so I am debating on whether to read another book called The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven first since it will be a short read, or jump right into the Hunger Games trilogy.. Hmmmm

Technology Simply Amazes Me!

So while playing around on YouTube for my midterm, I came across the IPhone 5 commercial ad, and I was literally baffled at how far technology has come to make the features of that phone possible. How in the world is it that a cell phone can holographically project a full size keyboard and TV screen in front of the phone!?!?!?! Does this amaze anyone else or am I the only one?! I am pretty up to date with all the technology savvy stuff, but I cannot get over that for some reason!

The cold that never goes away

So I know I am probably just whining, but, I feel as if mother nature is still making up for having a nice mild winter with all the sicknesses going around this year. I think more people have gotten the stomach bug, colds, and sore throats this year than any other past years. I am on my 5th cold since January, and it is not fun at all! This weather is messing with us, it is nice out so we wear sweatshirts one day and then it drops to the 30s the next. Our body temperatures are going crazy and weakening our immune systems!

We are constantly outside playing whenever possible, which I know the fresh air is good for you, but I feel like whenever we do, within a day or two, I am getting sick again.

If this is mother nature compromising with us, it is no fun! But on the contrary I would rather get a stuffy nose than shovel.  =)

What the weather was like this time last year....

For all of us who are loving the weather this winter, this is a quick flash back at where we were last year!!! I will stick to the 40-60 degree weather with sunshine all day! I am not a fan of shoveling what so ever, so the fact that we can still go for walks and bike rides in almost March is fantastic!!! Bring on the beach weather!

Styling My Webpage

The past few weeks have been really fun learning all about how much you can do with notepad and text/edit. It is amazing how much work and coding it takes to make one simple sentence. Throughout the past few weeks, I have created 4 html webpages via notepad. They are index.html, videos.html, images.html, and midterm.html.

It was a blast making a table in notepad for the midterm, it was much easier than I initially thought it would be, but once you get the hang of it, it is not so bad and becomes fun. We learned how to make the font larger or smaller, and bold or italics. I learned how to change the color of a paragraph as well.

I am excited for all that is to come and proud of myself for understanding everything thus far!

How Internet Has Affected Media

Oh how times have changed from 20 years ago to today. Technology has by far out done anyone's expectations and then some! The internet specifically has become the top way to research and look something up, for example movie times, business hours, maps, etc.

The internet has had a huge impact on media as well. Whether it is music, movies, or commercials, the internet has you covered. Say you want to watch the super-bowl commercials again because there was one you loved, all you have to do is Google "super-bowl commercials and BAM! there you go!

The internet is a huge help with advertising as well, there are all sorts of ads everywhere from company's. There are the annoying pop-ups that we have learned how to successfully avoid, and usually on the right or left margins of search engines, there are ads, I think the most common one I see is weight loss ads.

The internet has helped make movies available online instead of having to rent the dvd, not to good for BlockBuster, but great for websites like NetFlix, and Hulu. How can you beat that, $8 per month for access to watch any movie you want as many times as you want, and even better, they are accessible through gaming systems too!

Absolutely Love This Song

Yes I am a country music girl, but I think that this is one of the sweetest and motivating songs out right now. Whether you are sick or not, it makes you realize it will be okay!

How my job has changed my outlook on life

Since becoming a full time nanny, I have a different outlook on things. I have been a nanny for about 4 years, and before that had my fair share of retail jobs (one in which I still currently do part time). Being a full time nanny means you are responsible for children monday thru friday while their parents are at work (for those who were unsure of the job details =] ). I started my current nanny job this past March so I am coming up on 1 year next month. I love and care about my girls as if they are my own, they have changed my attitude of not wanting to go to work everyday to absolutely loving going to work. We go all over the place for fun activities, such as Canobie Lake Park (amusement park), Bonkers (indoor kids playground), Chuck E Cheese (death of me!), the mall (has small indoor playground as well), out for different lunch dates, and so much more that I can't even think about. My family absolutely adores them as well, my grandmother loves when I bring them over to visit her. They are such sweet, intelligent, fun little girls. I dread the day that they are old enough and do not need me to watch them anymore, but also look forward to a life long friendship I hope to have with them.

Technology 2012 ... Good or Bad for Communication?

When given the question..."How has the progress of the internet effected communication of family and friends?" I found it strangely difficult to answer, because I have never really thought about it before. I know that I am on Facebook everyday and am constantly checking my emails, but I never actually sat back and thought about how all this forth coming new technology, and birth of all the social networks actually altered my relationships.

With that being said, here is what I have concluded; since joining Facebook, I talk to people more often. When I graduated high school I pretty much didn't care if I ever talked to most of the kids I graduated with ever again. High school was filled with so much drama, I was happy to graduate and move on with my life. However, since I graduated, almost 4 years ago, Facebook has reconnected me with people I never thought I would ever want to talk to again. It is nice to see how the once ridiculous people I called classmates have grown and matured into responsible adults like myself.

As for the family aspect of social networking and internet communicating, most of my family is also on Facebook, my mother, grandmother (yes i said my grandmother!), all my aunts, my brother, also my in-laws. So if anything it allows us all to see what each other is up to. I still visit my family the same amount, I never really was one to call my grandmother or aunts and uncles frequently. My family is so huge that we see each other pretty regularly between holidays and birthdays.

After thinking about all of that it was a relief to realize that the internet really has not changed the way I communicate with people, if anything, it enhance it!

Class Expectations

So, like I said in my last post, I am completely new at this whole Blogging thing, other than living on FaceBook, I am not very familiar with blogging. I am looking forward to learning all about it and becoming accustomed to something new and exciting.

I am interested in a wide variety of topics, and am not picky at all. I am a huge traveler and love going to new places. I have done quite a bit of traveling, mainly to the same place, for example, I have been to Walt Disney World probably over 20 times. But I have also travelled to other places as well such as Aruba, New Hampshire, Canada, Bermuda, Maine, Virginia, New York, California, and Florida.

I am a huge music lover! Music gets me through the day and my ever changing moods. LOL. Whether I am cleaning the house, doing yard work, at the gym, driving, or camping, my music goes with me! I love to listen to everything, but specifically love the country channel 102.5, Kiss 108, and Magic 106.7.

I am very interested in things that have to do with children, as I am a full time nanny during the week. I am always looking for new places to go to with them, and new toys and books to use with them.

My mother is a huge computer person as she works on Hanscom AFB doing Cyber Security, so I have a wide vast amount of knowledge with computers. My father often calls us the computer geeks in the family. LOL!

But like I said previously, I am new to blogging and am very excited to learn something new!
